‘Homeland’ Season 6 Spoilers: Carrie Mathison And Peter Quinn To Marry?

Viraj Mahajan

Homeland Season 6 is going to premiere in October. While the plot of the upcoming political thriller drama is still under wraps, showrunner and co-creator Alex Gansa recently teased that in the upcoming season, Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) is going to make his comeback as an assassin. Based on Quinn’s on-and-off relationship with protagonist, Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes), it looks like the couple will get hitched after Quinn’s complete recovery.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Quinn will be returning in season 6. Gansa stated that in the upcoming season, Quinn will be back as a ruthless killer and the audience will get to see a completely new side of him.

“How Peter Quinn’s character is gonna be dramatized this year is going to surprise people, and it may not be what you think.”

He further revealed the scope of Quinn’s relationship with Mathison. According to the show’s creator, both the characters are emotionally damaged, and if they get together, then there are chances that they will jeopardize their ongoing mission.

“They’re both very damaged people and I think that they have a similar attraction to high voltage, high adrenaline situations that tend to have an incredible benefit but more likely to have a very catastrophic end.”

In his earlier interview with Sioux City Journal, Gansa revealed the possibility of bringing Nicolas Brody’s (Damian Lewis) daughter Dana (Morgan Saylor) again in the thriller series as a new CIA agent. After the death of Brody in Homeland season 4, fans were left clueless about the future of his entire family. Now there are strong chances that Gansa and Showtime President Gary Levine will manage a plot that will deal in Dana’s future in the show.

“I’m still interested in the Brody family, though. I know they caused grimaces across the Internet…What if she (Dana) became a CIA officer, right? That would be so interesting.”

According to Blaster News, if Dana will make her return in the upcoming season, then there are chances that she will take the burden off of Quinn’s shoulder. This will allow him some time to recover, and will bring him close to Mathison resulting in their marriage.

Meanwhile, Variety reported that the awaited season of Homeland will cover the ongoing presidential elections in the USA. Gansa revealed that the season will cover all the 72 days, from election day to inauguration day, and to bring a new character in the show as the new President of United States of America will be exhilarating.

“In that 72 days, we’re hopefully going to tell an interesting story. Whether the president is male or female, it’s going to be a very interesting character.”

On the other hand, there are also possibilities of showing Mathison’s life before she joined CIA. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Gansa stated that when Quinn will be taking some time off to recover from the fatal injuries, Mathison will try to live a normal life and the series will finally show how Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) recruited her when she was studying in a college.

“Clearly she came to the attention of Saul Berenson probably through a professor at some university who picked her out as somebody who was incredibly perceptive and acute about human behavior… somebody who could thrive in the duplicitous role of intelligence works overseas. Somebody recognized these gifts and alerted Saul for this fact and she was recruited by him.”

Well, fans of Homeland are still speculating about the upcoming show but based on the grounds the series has covered in the earlier seasons, it looks like Homeland season 6 will try to touch some new horizons this fall when it will return to Showtime.
