Festivities will be held at multiple locations to celebrate both Canada Day and the reopening of Calgary’s downtown core.

Dangerous conditions on Prince’s Island Park have prompted the music, food and activities to move to:

  • Shaw Millennium Park – 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
  • Stephen Avenue (between 4 St. S.W. and Macleod Trail) – 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Olympic Plaza – 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Calgary Transit and bicycles are the recommended modes of transportation for getting to the downtown events.  Public parking in the downtown core remains limited.

A Canada Day fireworks display, scheduled for 10:45 p.m., will be launched from the Centre St. bridge.

Citizens are being reminded of the dangerous conditions along the banks of the Bow River.  Recommended locations for viewing the fireworks include:

  • Nose Hill Park
  • Shaganappi Park
  • Scotsman’s Hill
  • Max Bell Arena

Fort Calgary / East Village Street Fair

9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

At 9:00 a.m., a pancake breakfast for the first 1,500 visitors followed by Canada Day opening ceremonies at 10:00.

  • Free admission for all outdoor activities
  • 50% discount on regular admission to museum galleries

Live entertainment throughout the day.

Children’s activities including jump houses, pony rides and a petting zoo.

Appearances by YYC Food Trucks and vintage cars.

Heritage Park

9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The Park will be bustling with activities from family games, buskers, and musical entertainment including:

  • A cricket demonstration by the Calgary Cricket league
  • Mini Chuckwagon Races in the Rodeo Arena
  • Children’s crafts
  • Stock Dog demonstrations
  • Trick Roping with Bud Edgar
  • Strathcona Mounted Troop Musical Ride
  • Dominion Day parade down Main Street
  • Canadian themed meals and snacks
  • Old-fashioned Family Games
  • Chinook Line Dancers
  • Birthday Cake
  • Canadian Citizenship Ceremony, welcoming new Canadians. 
  • And much, much more

In response to recent flooding, Heritage Park is asking guess to help us fill a covered horse-drawn wagon full of donated non-perishable food, water, and personal hygiene items including diapers for the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank, and collecting financial donations for the Red Cross
.

Airdrie Canada Day Parade

10:00 a.m. - noon

Begins at the Tri-School site, travels west on 1 Ave., south on Main St., east and north on Allen St., returns to Tri-School

Canmore

8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Rotary Club of Canmore Pancake Breakfast at Centennial Park

Noon

Parade begins at the intersection of Fairholme Drive and 15 St. and travels along Main St. before disbanding at Railway Ave.

Marching bands travel from the parade's end to Centennial Park.

1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
